This year has sparked a wave of innovation in sustainable fashion, from cutting-edge materials to bold shifts in production – the movement is just beginning. In October, Condé Nast unveiled a trailblazing partnership with eBay, creating a new place for Pre-Loved fashion. With eBay now the official Pre-Loved Partner of Condé Nast, this multi-year alliance has made eBay the go-to hub for branded Pre-Loved fashion and put Condé Nast at the forefront of sustainable fashion.
This partnership feels like a natural next step, given the duo’s history of collaboration, including their Luxury and Lifestyle Cannes Lions-winning campaign with Twiggy. By formalizing their partnership, they are transforming the perception of Pre-Loved fashion—elevating it from a passing trend to an essential part of daily style. Their push for circular fashion signals a shift in the industry, reflecting the changing desires of both brands and consumers.
As more consumers increase the demand for sustainable fashion, more brands and company’s will work to comply. On this topic, Alexis Hoopes Global Fashion Vice President with eBay, stated “By partnering with Condé Nast, we’re reshaping circular fashion. By leveraging a historic influence on the fashion industry, and eBay’s selection and trusted marketplace, we are placing pre-loved at the epicenter of the fashion conversation, making it both sustainable and aspirational.” This partnership will set the example for future collaborations between brands and company’s in sustainable fashion.
With the announcement of the partnership their looking towards the next generation to prioritize sustainable fashion. Doug Grinspan US Sales & Global Key Accounts Chief Business Officer with Condé Nast, hopes ” to inspire a new generation to embrace vintage and pre-loved as a defining expression of personal style.” Grinspan then went on to emphasize both brands’ ” ambition to lead the next era of sustainable style and authenticated resale.” Reinforcing the brands’ identities as trusted leaders and visionaries within their respected industries.
Condé Nast and eBay are two well-respected names in fashion, and with this partnership, they’re bringing Pre-Loved fashion into the spotlight like never before. Their promotion of circular fashion will hopefully be the first of many collaborations like it as more luxury brands look to implement sustainability initiatives. It opens the door for Pre-Loved fashion to be talked about in the same space as luxury fashion, which was previously unheard of. The future of fashion is changing – this might be one of the most obvious signs of it – sustainability is becoming a forethought instead of an afterthought.
