First, he took over social media, then he took over fashion. With only a few TikToks, Wisdom Kaye was able to become one of the most influential stylists in fashion. After taking the fashion world by storm, the influencer has amassed a large following of fans who eagerly anticipate his unique outfits and styling tips. It seemed his work paid off when he attended last year’s Met Gala, though he later revealed it was only because TikTok purchased a table for him. Despite his insecurities, the stylist captivated viewers in his stunning custom Robert Wun suit.
The pair first collaborated for Wun’s Spring/Summer 2024 runway show, which had fans everywhere begging for another collaboration. It was the perfect team-up for fashion’s biggest event, Wun’s unique interpretation of the Gala’s theme ensured Kaye stood out from his fellow attendees. Many designers followed “The Garden of Time” theme by showing the growth of nature over time, while Wun decided to do the opposite. Instead, he focused on the concept of decay over time.
Wun dubbed his design “The Burnt Red Rose” meant to represent how even the most beautiful creations inevitably deteriorate. The vibrant red suit was filled with burnt or rotted holes, suggesting damage or natural decay. It was a powerful statement made by the duo, life is beautiful in all stages- whether a rose is blooming or withering. The message that everything has a dark side is reminiscent of the story in the science fiction novel, Red Rising.

Written by Pierce Brown, Red Rising is the first book and eponym in a dystopian saga set in the future on Mars. The story follows a young boy’s discovery as he learns that his government isn’t as benevolent as he previously assumed. Along his journey, he faces many tragedies and choices that ultimately turn the once-kind boy into the monsters he’s fighting. It quickly becomes apparent that even the “Gold” gods have a dark side and not everything is as it seems in this riveting tale.
Fans were devastated when they realized that Wisdom Kaye wasn’t in attendance at the Met Gala this year. Always one to be honest, he confirmed on his Twitter that he wasn’t invited this past May. It was an error on the Met Gala’s part as they were celebrating Black Dandyism and Black Fashion. Kaye is the perfect modern example of a Black dandy, it was definitely a mistake not having him there. The uproar in his absence may force Anna Wintour to rectify this failure next year.
Vogue calls Wisdom Kaye “the best-dressed guy on TikTok”, but he’s quickly becoming one of the best-dressed guys in fashion. Fans of his style and story can follow the icon’s Instagram or TikTok. Fans can go to Robert Wun’s website to see more from the designer or to see his collection featuring Kaye. Readers who enjoy dystopian science fiction novels with unexpected romance and fantasy will love the Red Rising book series by Pierce Brown. You can purchase the series at your local bookstores and online.
